Facebook is Dropping Blackberry Support

Facebook is officially unfriending Blackberry, following a decision by WhatsApp to drop support for Blackberry. In a statement by WhatsApp, they said “While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future.”

A spokesperson for BlackBerry wrote a blog post stating “We are extremely disappointed in their decision as we know so many users love these apps. We fought back to work with WhatsApp and Facebook to change their minds, but at this time, their decision stands.”

BlackBerry users will continue to be able to use the mobile version website to visit and use Facebook.

It should also be noted that approximately 99.5% of Facebook smartphone app use comes from Apple, Google and Microsoft mobile phone operating systems.
