LATAM Airlines, a Chile-based airline and the biggest Latin American carrier, is the latest to halt service to Venezuela.

The suspended flights are due to the economic and humanitarian crisis in Venezuela. The Venezuelan economy relies heavily on its oil reserves. The low oil prices have strangled the Venezuelan economy.

The result is food rationing, medicine shortages, rolling blackouts to conserve power and mass unemployment.

LATAM Airlines joins Lufthansa, Delta, American Airlines, Air Canada and Alitalia who have already reduced or suspended flights to Venezuela.
